3rd Nanying Cup Chinese Debate Competition successfully concluded at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) on 23 December 2018. University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and XMUM (Team B) were crowned winner and first runner up respectively, while Qian Weiming from XMUM was announced as the Best Debater.
The competition lasted two days: First round and semi-final on 22 December, and final on 23 December. All sessions were relayed live on Facebook.
In the final round of the competition, UPM debated for the affirmative while XMUM (Team B) for the negative, with the proposition of “Being the only sober person in the room is a bliss” (Negative as “Being the only sober person in the room is a misfortune”).
Hosted by XMUM Chinese Debate Society and mainly sponsored by ICBC Malaysia, the event brought together 10 teams from 9 universities. Mr. Wang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of ICBC Malaysia, and Dr. Fan Zhiquan, Advisor to President of XMUM, attended the final competition.

The prize giving ceremony began with a speech given by Chang Ai Teng, the Organising Chairperson; followed by Dr. Fan Zhiquan, Advisor to President of XMUM, and Mr. Wang Qiang Chief Executive Officer of ICBC Malaysia.
During the Prize Giving Ceremony, a participation certificate was given to all the participants, and every judge and corporate sponsor received a souvenir.
UPM received a total cash of RM 2,000, while XMUM (Team B) received a cash prize of RM 1,000. The best debater Qian Weiming received an amount of RM 600 for his outstanding performance.
