Christmas is not about Santa Clause, Christmas Trees and presents. To share the history of Christmas with everyone, the Christian Fellowship Club organized a Christmas event themed “The Heart of Christmas”, which was open to everyone in the university. It was in collaboration with Youth Leader’s Association Club and Xiamen University Malaysia Business Association, while Photography Club helped photograph the whole event.

The Christmas event officially began at 7.30pm of 19 December, 2018 with a welcoming speech given by Mr. Potter Ka Kai Fong from XMUM’s Student Extra-Curricular Activities Office.

It was followed by a band performance (“It’s Christmas” by Planetshakers and “Feliz Navidad”) and a short dance performance about the origin story of Christmas by Christian Fellowship Club. After that, Orchestra Club performed the orchestra rendition of Christmas songs “Sleigh Ride” and “Christmas Festival”, and Music Club gave a band performance which filled the atmosphere with the Christmas vibe. The event ended on a high note with Christmas caroling by the Music Club, where everyone was invited to sing along to “Jingle Bells”.

In order to make it an interactive event, several additional activities supplemented the performances on the day of the event. Snacks and desserts were available to all who came at the beginning of the event. Several game booths ran concurrently so that students could play games and stand a chance to win goodies. An ornately decorated photo booth was also made available by the Photography Club, where students could take photos as memorabilia. Several lucky draw sessions were held in between performances with prizes such as headphones, gift cards, power banks, and buffet vouchers in a 5-star hotel. A Christmas Card Designing Competition was held during the 2 weeks prior to the day of the event, giving students the opportunity to showcase their creativity.
