Sepang, December 12 – The 2nd Intramural Badminton Tournament was held at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) from 30 October to 12 December, 2018.

Ng Jo Ann, a first year student from Finance programme, won championships in Women Single, Women Double and Mixed Double.

“I am really happy to join this tournament because it provides me a platform to show my talent,” said Ng. She said she felt good to sweat in midst of loads of heavy and headache assignments, as badminton can help her release academic stress.

The tournament has been annually organized by XMUM Badminton Club since 2017. “I am very glad to see our university has more potential badminton players to be trained to a higher level,” said Teo Chok Hien, former president of XMUM Badminton Club.

Teo also expressed his hope that the players will continue improving their skills and maintain their passion in badminton.

The Intramural Badminton Tournament this year has been split into two sessions: The round-robin was held at the end of October and the quarter finals, semi finals and finals were held in mid December.

“This arrangement arose because the foundation students were having their semester break from mid November to early December. We decided to split the game to suit most of the players’ schedule,” said Ong Cheng Seang, the incoming president of the club.

Ong also said that he really appreciates the effort and hard work paid by the committee to make this tournament a success in such a short time. Also, he expressed his thanks to the sponsors and the coach for their physical, spiritual and financial support.

Men Single:

· Champion: Sunny Ong Cheng Seang

· 1st runner up: Eric Tay Min Yuan

· 2nd runner up: Teo Chok Hien

· 2nd runner up: Woo Chun Hong

Women Single:

· Champion: Ng Jo Ann

· 1st runner up: Ching Min En

· 2nd runner up: June Chan Zhao Rou

· 2nd runner up: Ang Hui Shan

Men Double:

· Champion: Teo Chok Hien, Ku Zhen Yang
